Usage Limits
Babelize enforces various limits to ensure fair usage and platform stability. This guide explains all limits and how to work within them.
Credit Limits
Credits measure translation volume based on source characters.
Monthly Allocations

Credit Consumption
Credits are consumed when:
- Translation job completes successfully
- Each target language counts separately
Credits are not consumed when:
- Job fails due to an error
- Job is canceled before completion
- Previewing translation results
Credit Reset
Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle. Unused credits do not carry over.
Rate Limits
Rate limits protect against abuse and ensure availability for all users. The dashboard has limits on uploads and downloads to prevent system overload.
File Size Limits

Large File Handling
For files exceeding limits:
- Split into smaller files
- Upload as multiple jobs

Storage limits apply to revision history and source files.

Managing Storage
View current storage usage:
- Go to Settings → Usage
- View the storage breakdown
Reduce storage by:
- Deleting old revisions
- Archiving inactive projects
- Removing source files (translations retained)

How to Monitor Usage
Dashboard
View your usage summary on the home dashboard or detailed metrics at Settings → Usage.
Alerts
Set up usage alerts:
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Configure thresholds (50%, 75%, 90%, 100%)
- Choose delivery method (email, webhook)
Consequences of Exceeding Limits
