AI Credits
How Credits Work
- A credit covers about 60 characters of newly translated text: roughly one string in one language
- Each target language counts separately
- Text reused from earlier babels, your edits or translation memory is free
- You're charged for what a babel actually translated. Failed and cancelled babels give their credits back
- Babels that run on your own AI key use no credits
Before a babel starts, the cost line shows what it will use.
When You Run Out
New babels need credits until they renew, unless you've added your own AI key: with the project's translation service on Automatic (the default), babels then use your key and no credits. See Bring Your Own Key.
You get an in-app notification and an email when 80% of the month's credits are used, and again at 100%.
Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and do not carry over.
Manage Your Subscription
Everything is under Plan & usage in the sidebar.
Upgrade or change plan
- Go to Plan & usage
- Click Upgrade (or Change plan on a paid plan)
- Select your plan
- Complete payment
Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period.
Cancel
- Go to Plan & usage → Billing
- Click Cancel subscription
- Confirm
Your plan stays active until the end of the paid period, then your account moves to Free. You can Resume subscription until then.
Payments and Invoices
Babelize accepts credit/debit cards and processes payments securely through our payment provider. Past payments are listed under Plan & usage → Billing, and Payment method & invoices opens the provider's portal to update your card or download invoices.
