Babelize plan limits explained: projects, AI credit quotas and API rate limits per plan, what happens when you reach a limit, and how to monitor your usage.
Babelize enforces limits per plan to ensure fair usage and platform stability.

AI Credits
Credits measure translation volume.
How Credits Are Consumed
- A credit covers about 60 characters of newly translated text: roughly one string in one language
- Each target language counts separately
- Text reused from earlier babels, your edits or translation memory is free
- You're charged for what a babel actually translated; failed and cancelled babels give their credits back
- Babels on your own AI key use no credits
Credit Reset
Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle. Unused credits do not carry over.
What Happens at the Limit

| AI Credits exceeded | New babels need credits until they renew, unless you've added your own AI key (then Automatic babels use it) |
| Projects exceeded | Cannot create new projects — archive or upgrade (Free plan only; drafts don't count) |
| API Requests exceeded | API calls return 429 Too Many Requests |
| Hourly Jobs exceeded | Translation queue is paused for the hour |
Monitoring Usage
View your usage on Plan & usage in the sidebar:
- This month's credits, when they renew, and whether you're on pace to run out
- Credits used, texts translated and babels over the last 7, 30 or 90 days
- Credits by project, plus a CLI & SDK row for credits used outside a project
- API requests today against your daily limit, and per API key
- Active projects against your plan's limit
Babelize also notifies you (in the app and by email) when 80% and 100% of the month's credits are used. Auto-localize has its own monthly credit limit per project.
