Common issues and solutions when using Babelize.

Authentication Issues

Can't sign in

Symptoms:

  • Login page reloads without signing in
  • Error message about invalid credentials

Solutions:

  1. Verify email address is correct
  2. Check spam folder for OTP email
  3. Clear browser cookies
  4. Try a different browser
  5. Disable browser extensions

Session expired unexpectedly

Symptoms:

  • Suddenly logged out
  • "Session expired" message

Solutions:

  1. Sign in again
  2. Check if you're on a shared device
  3. Verify no one else has access to your account

OAuth sign-in failing

Symptoms:

  • Google/Apple sign-in popup closes without success
  • Error after OAuth redirect

Solutions:

  1. Enable pop-ups for babelize.app
  2. Clear browser cookies
  3. Try incognito mode
  4. Verify OAuth account is active

Translation Issues

Translation taking too long

Symptoms:

  • Job stuck in "processing" state
  • Timeout errors

Possible causes:

  • Large file size
  • Complex content structure
  • High system load

Solutions:

  1. Wait longer for large files
  2. Split into smaller files
  3. Check status.babelize.app for outages
  4. Contact support if persists

Translation quality issues

Symptoms:

  • Incorrect translations
  • Missing context

Solutions:

  1. Use clearer source text
  2. Add glossary entries for problem terms
  3. Set appropriate formality level
  4. Ensure correct language codes

Placeholders being translated

Symptoms:

  • Variables like {name} translated
  • Code snippets modified

Solutions:

  1. Enable "Preserve placeholders" setting
  2. Check placeholder format is supported
  3. Use code blocks for code content

Unexpected translation changes

Symptoms:

  • Same content translating differently
  • Reproducibility issues

Solutions:

  1. Pin model version in settings
  2. Check glossary wasn't modified
  3. Verify same settings used

File Issues

File upload failing

Symptoms:

  • Upload button doesn't work
  • Error during upload

Solutions:

  1. Check file size limits for your plan
  2. Verify file format is supported
  3. Ensure file isn't corrupted
  4. Try a different browser

Parse errors

Symptoms:

  • "Invalid JSON" or similar errors
  • Partial content translated

Solutions:

  1. Validate file syntax (JSONLint, YAML validator)
  2. Check encoding is UTF-8
  3. Remove BOM if present
  4. Fix line ending issues

Missing content in translation

Symptoms:

  • Some keys not translated
  • Empty values in output

Solutions:

  1. Check if keys are in excluded patterns
  2. Verify content isn't marked as "do not translate"
  3. Look for parsing warnings in job details

Dashboard Issues

Dashboard not loading

Symptoms:

  • Blank page
  • Infinite loading

Solutions:

  1. Clear browser cache
  2. Disable browser extensions
  3. Try incognito mode
  4. Try a different browser
  5. Check your internet connection

Data not updating

Symptoms:

  • Old information displayed
  • Changes not reflecting

Solutions:

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Sign out and back in

Export not working

Symptoms:

  • Download doesn't start
  • Empty file downloaded

Solutions:

  1. Try a different browser
  2. Check pop-up blocker
  3. Wait for job to complete first

Billing Issues

Payment failed

Symptoms:

  • Downgrade warning
  • Features restricted

Solutions:

  1. Update payment method
  2. Check card isn't expired
  3. Verify billing address
  4. Contact your bank
  5. Try a different payment method

Credits not reflecting

Symptoms:

  • Purchase completed but credits not added
  • Incorrect balance shown

Solutions:

  1. Wait a few minutes
  2. Refresh the page
  3. Check invoice for confirmation
  4. Contact support with payment details
